Bradford Travel Guide

by our United Kingdom expert Terry Emery
Terry EmeryBradford was for many years the centre of the Yorkshire wool industry and consequently an international hub for the trade as local sheep farming became replaced by Australian wool during the 19thC. At the foot of the Pennines and in the lovely valley of the River Aire, the city is another of the many British industrial centres that give on to superlative countryside - including the Yorkshire Moors and Dales. There are many fine Victorian buildings, such as the City Hall and old Wool Exchange and in marked contrast, the modernistic National Media Museum was created here in 1983.
