Gumbet Travel Guide

by our Turkey expert Paul Baderman
Paul BadermanA custom-built tourist resort, Gümbet was at first quite compact but has steadily grown in size and popularity. It is perhaps the acme of beach-party vacations in this region of Turkey’s Aegean coast - glorious sun and sea by day, effervescent if unsophisticated party time by night. The beach scene is excellent - safe, clean, sandy with all the desirable facilities - several windsurfing schools, good sub-aqua tuition courses, even a nearby topless area, rare in Turkey. Although there is every kind of international ‘cuisine’ (jam roly-poly anyone?), you can still find good traditional Turkish cooking. The local ‘dolmus’ buses are an easy way to sight-see elsewhere at historic sites such as Bodrum.
