AegeanCoast Travel Guide

by our Turkey expert Paul Baderman
Paul BadermanThe Bodrum peninsula and adjoining coast is where the Turkish end of the Mediterranean curves round to mutate into the Aegean - Homer’s ‘wine-dark sea’, although to our eyes it’s an ever-sparkling, clear azure blue. The whole area is dotted with small fishing villages and newly created resorts, often with only a few kilometres separating them from legendary Greek islands and thus with a matching idyllic climate. The history, culture and food, of course, is quintessentially Turkish however. Destinations to look for include Bodrum itself, Altinkum, historic Ephesus, Gumbet, Icmeler and Kusadasi.
