Bern Travel Guide

by our Switzerland expert Paul Baderman
Paul Baderman(With an ‘e’ for the French, but the locals mostly speak German). The handsome medieval city is largely in a loop of the river Aar so is criss-crossed by many fine bridges. The old town centre boasts a splendid 15thC Cathedral and a fascinating ‘Zytglogge’ clock-tower with elaborate revolving figures (well, we are talking Switzerland). The city is also a good base to explore the Bernese Alps - which also provide spectacular views from many points in the town itself.
