Catania Travel Guide

by our Italy expert Paul Baderman
Paul BadermanPerhaps best known by tourists for its international airport or its ferry services to Malta, Catania is also a historically and architecturally interesting city. Founded over 2,500 years ago, the city has experienced both the highs of economic prosperity and the lows of partial destruction by neighbouring Mount Etna. What's left behind today are some remarkable Greek & Roman structures plus a Baroque city centre that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There's also some great shops!
