Alghero Travel Guide

by our Italy expert Paul Baderman
Paul BadermanOne of the most enjoyable towns for visitors on the large island of Sardinia, Alghero has a distinct Spanish flavour to it - Catalan to be accurate. A walled old town with strollable ramparts, it contains excellent hotels, restaurants and shops, together with a long golden-sanded beach. A highly photogenic harbour offers mooring if you boast your own yacht, or days-out-at-sea trips if not - as well as being the source for superb seafood. The town has its own international airport making it an easy direct destination from many European cities.
