 Tignes is now one of a pair of resorts that make up the highly rated ski region of Espace Killy (yes, that Killy). The original village was submerged by a hydro-electric dam in the 50’s. At 3,500m +, Tignes is virtually snow-guaranteed, although climate change has reduced the former year-round glacier. Glorious powder and pistes, with everything for the boarder. You can even add animals with dog-sledding and horse-drawn ski-joring. An unusual funicular takes you through the hill to the Panoramic restaurant on the Grand Motte glacier. Slightly more family oriented than its glam. neighbour in the region, Val d’Isere .
