Strasbourg Travel Guide

by our France expert Terry Emery
Terry EmeryPerched on the Franco-German border, the ancient Rhine city is now renowned (infamous?) as the seat of many European Community institutions including the EC parliament. The ‘Grande-Île’ city centre is rightly classed as a world heritage site, giving on to an impressive array of historic buildings. Not least is the 12th C. Gothic Cathedral with its fascinating Astronomical clock that could compute the date of Easter long before computers. Part of the appeal for Eurocrats and visitors alike is the proximity of the Vosges mountains and the Black Forest.
