Meribel Travel Guide

by our France expert Paul Baderman
Paul BadermanMeribel is the ‘heart of three valleys’ in France’s Savoie region and lays claim to be the ‘world’s largest’ snow-sport area. Some 350 runs cover 600km of pistes, plus good powder areas. And no fewer than 11 ‘snowparks and fun-zones’ range from ‘serious’ (ie scary) to junior and forest; you can learn how to free-ski and even how to survive an avalanche. Despite this vast choice, a weekly lift-pass can also give day’s access to neighbouring systems such as Paradiski. A special attraction for traditionalists is the village’s insistence on maintaining the original architectural style.
